Women in Tech Sussex Code of Conduct

Everyone within WIT Sussex will treat and be treated with respect. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. No member shall be discriminated against based on gender, marital status, race, religious affiliation, age, political views, disability, sexual orientation or pregnancy/maternity.

Core Principles and Values:

Inclusivity and Diversity:

  • The group welcomes and values women of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels.

  • The group is inclusive of trans women and non-binary individuals who identify with womanhood.

Respect and Kindness:

  • Respectful communication and behavior at all times is required.

  • Empathy and understanding is paramount.

  • Harassment, discrimination, or derogatory language will not be tolerated.

Support and Empowerment:

  • The group aims to provide a supportive environment for women to learn, grow, and network.

  • We aim to foster a culture of mentorship and knowledge sharing.

Prohibited Behaviors:

  • Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

    • Verbal harassment (e.g., offensive comments, insults, threats).

    • Visual harassment (e.g., offensive images, unwelcome attention).

    • Physical harassment (e.g., unwanted touching, assault).

    • Cyber harassment (e.g., online bullying, stalking).

  • Sexual harassment. We explicitly prohibit any form of sexual harassment, including unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature.

  • Discrimination. We prohibit discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or any other protected characteristic.

  • Hate speech. Hate speech of any kind is unacceptable.

  • Disruptive behavior.
